Umhlanga, we did a thing. DRNK. Matcha has a home at CMH Toyota Umhlanga — and it’s exactly what a Tuesday morning in Somerset Park has been missing.

You already know us as Umhlanga’s first matcha-specialised café. Same ceremonial-grade matcha, same green-and-gold energy, same team in the bucket hats. New address, new reason to take the long way to work.

And before you ask: yes, we have coffee. Yes, we have baked goods. No, you don’t need to own a Toyota.

We’re set into the CMH Toyota Umhlanga building on Wilton Crescent, a two-minute drive off Umhlanga Rocks Drive and easy to reach from Somerset Park, Umhlanga Ridge, Cornubia, Mount Edgecombe, Durban North and La Lucia. There’s proper parking, an open-air counter, and shade for when Durban decides to be Durban.

  • Saturday: 8:00 – 12:00

  • Sunday: Closed

Early enough for the pre-work matcha run. Open through lunch for the “I need to get out of the office” walk.

Coffee

Not everyone in the car is a matcha person, and that’s genuinely fine. We serve proper coffee at Toyota Umhlanga too — espresso, americano, cappuccino, flat white, iced coffee, the lot — pulled by the same team that takes the matcha this seriously.

The counter is stocked daily with fresh baked goods — croissants, cookies, sandwiches and sweet things that pair suspiciously well with an iced matcha latte. Grab one for the desk, or two if the meeting is a long one.
